APA Referencing style

The APA style consists of different rules and attentions for format of the paper, articles, journal reviews, literature search and other formats and styles etc.

APA refers to American Psychological Association and it is known widely for citing the sources with respect to the researches and other sciences. APA provides an important understanding of references with proper author names and the dates of publications. Thus APA also provides an overview of important citations in terms of text.  Currently the 6th version of APA is in vogue.

Thus there is proper referencing style that focus on the text in terms of successful references such as:-

Journal article: When the journal, the researcher should use the last name of author with regards to the year of publication.

For example: if the author’ name is Roger Chin, who authored a journal in 2015, the journal will be referenced as (Chin, 2015)

Book: Single author: There is a last name of the author with respect to the year of publication.

Two authors: The researcher should use both the author’s last names of the author at the time of referencing.

For intext: (Schultz & Schultz, 2006) or Schultz and Schultz (2006). Or Schultz and Schultz (2006, p.5)

Schultz, D. P., & Schultz, S.E.(2006). Psychology and work today: An introduction to industrial and organizational psychology ( 9th ed.). Upper 

         Saddle River, N.Y.: Prentice Hall.

Three to five authors: When the paper contains more than two authors, the researcher should try to use the all authors’ last names as well as year that will contain the last name in the references followed with the year, and in subsequent references can be followed with the last name of the first author and et.al.

(Hepworth, Rooney,  Rooney, Strom-Gottfried & Larsen2010)

or Hepworth, Rooney,  Rooney, Strom-Gottfried and Larsen (2010).

After referencing as above for the first intext, the other references in-text will be Hepworth, et al. ( 2010) or Helworth, et al. ( 2010, p.7). or Helworth, et al. ( 2010, pp. 8-12).

For six authors, the referencing will be like  Harris et al. (2001) or  (Harris et al., 2001) and all the six authors will be will be cited in the end reference.

More than six authors: In the case the book or article has more than seven authors, the list of the  last names of the initial six authors further followed by … and then the name of the last author in the reference entry.

Legal material: Case name and year in-text

For citing the references of cases in text, give the case name, in italics, and the year.

There are general APA guidelines associated with the essay such as the essay should be mentioned and it should be written on double spaced with respect to the standard size of paper and also it should be mention on the clear font i.e. Times New Roman. This font is generally used and is actually readable. It includes the head of the page and there should have header at the top of the page. APA also recommends the font size of 12 point that includes the double spacing as well as the punctuation. The fonts are font like Arial, Futura, or Helvetica, and range of fonts is 8 point to 14 point.

In case of APA referencing style, the essay should focus on the title of the paper, abstract of the body, area of discussion as well as the references.
